Farley Rafa Aurellia, student class of 2020 in the Public Relations study program, FIKOM Unpad, was selected as an outstanding student at the study program level and an outstanding student candidate at the faculty level. The student, who is often called Rafa, is a Paragon Scholarship Program scholarship holder for the period 2021 to 2024.
In 2022, Rafa and his colleague Farhan Aulia won an international championship, the Public Relations Student Forum organized by the Padjadjaran PR Fair. Rafa admitted that he did not imagine winning until he won 1st place with the title “Outstanding Delegates of Public Relations Student Forum (PRSF)”.
Rafa also often participates in competitions in the field of Public Speaking. In 2020, Rafa won first place in the National Public Speaking Competition held by Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. In 2022, he won first place in the Public Speaking Competition at Sriwijaya University in 2022.
According to Rafa, he was not always successful in winning the races he participated in, four of the seven races he participated in ended in failure. Rafa’s series of defeats have not dampened his interest in continuing to try to accept new challenges.
“Initially, it was offered by a friend and asked why not try it? However, he was not immediately accepted because he knew that his capabilities had not reached the eyes of the competition in a conference format similar to MUN. After thinking about it, it’s not wrong to step out of your comfort zone.” said Rafa.
Apart from actively participating in Public Relations and Public Speaking competitions, Rafa is also active in student organizations. Currently he is the Head of the Organizational Development Department of Public Relations and Head of the Public Relations Division of the Unpad Hockey Unit.
Another passion of Rafa is in the field of human resources and organizational development. According to him, leadership skills that focus on people-oriented will lead him to become an open leader with a positive system and working environment.
When asked what made Rafa so serious in every activity, he answered because of his failures in the past. He talked about his bitter experience before becoming a student of the Padjadjaran University Public Relations Study Program. Previously, Rafa had been rejected at 7 state universities and official services that were his target. Until he doubted himself.
But now Rafa has regained his confidence. He already knows his own abilities and optimizes his passion. He often shares his experiences with other student friends in several events including at the Unpad Faculty of Law, Unpad Faculty of Geological Engineering, Unpad Communication Studies, Learning Lentera NGO, Department Select NGO, and Unpad Career.
