Maroon Master Class: Discuss Leadership and Project Management with Unpad Students

Maroon Master Class Ep. 1 is one of the activities of the Public Relations Study Program Student Association which was held on May 12 2023 in the Moestopo Room of the Faculty of Communication Sciences Unpad. The Maroon Master Class was held again with the theme Keys to Achieve a Successful Project Management which aims to provide knowledge related to leadership and project management. There are two materials presented at the Maroon Master Class this time, namely Leadership and Project Management. Leadership material was presented by Farhan Aidhil Suhartono who is the Head of Talent Management at AIESEC Unpad, while Project Management material was presented by Ahnaf Fairuzuhdy Aslam who is the CEO of the Bersinar Project.

Maroon Master Class Ep. 1 begins with an explanation regarding Leadership by Farhan who asks the meaning of a leader. “Leaders themselves do not have a definite meaning because the entire journey of a leader is personally designed so that each has its own path and goals,” said Farhan in his explanation. The mindset is focused from finding what it means to be a leader to how to be a leader. This session involves lots of interactive questions related to leadership and explanations about a leader who tends to be a diminisher rather than a multiplier.

After the Leadership material is finished, the Maroon Master Class continues with Project Management. A project will not go well if the performance management is not effective. When explained, it turned out that projects that failed to run and were not according to the main plan were caused by several factors, such as project delays, budget problems, and goals that were not achieved. Through this event, Ahnaf shared his knowledge regarding project management which consists of several important stages. These stages are project planning, team building, and risk mitigation. Apart from that, Ahnaf also provided some tips and supporting tools such as a website for project planning.

In the next session, the two presenters continued with a case study session related to project management and the strategies needed to solve the case. Efforts to solve this case were carried out with each group being asked to understand the case given, then making a chart of the required staff and solutions to the existing problems. Finally, three groups were called to the front to present the results of their case study discussions and were immediately given feedback by two presenters from the Maroon Master Class, namely Farhan and Ahnaf.
