Student Achievement: 1st Place in Microblogging Competition at CommDay Petra Christian University Surabaya

Surabaya, 11 May 2023 – Student of the Public Relations Study Program FIKOM UNPAD, Shabrina Yasmin, won 1st place in a microblogging competition organized by Petra Christian University Surabaya. This competition called Communication Day is held every year by the communication science study program in the framework of the Anniversary, as well as testing students’ communication skills and understanding of digital media.

The Communication Day microblogging competition is a national championship designed to invite students to express their ideas and creativity through short writing on social media platforms. Shabrina won this competition by showing her expertise in processing ideas regarding digital insights and using public relations writing which she is currently working on. Themed “Digital Future”, he gave the title to his writing with the title “What Changes the Digital Society Can Make?”. Through the right communication strategy, Shabrina managed to get the attention of the jury and other participants through the works she wrote.

Enjoying writing is the secret to Shabrina’s success in winning this competition. Apart from that, she also feels that she has plenty of time to write this microblog. According to Shabrina, the challenge she faces when writing is when she needs a lot of time to study topics and do in-depth research.

“In this competition, I learned new things and learned not to be afraid to step out.” said Shabrina when interviewed. He also felt that he got a lot of benefits and lessons from participating in this competition. Shabrina really felt guided about how to write, such as being given input on writing style, clarity of message, strength of argument, effective use of language, how to choose pictures, and learning her position as a reader by the judges.

The microblogging competition in the Communication Day competition provides a great opportunity for students to improve their writing skills as well as broaden their horizons and interact with fellow students at the local and national levels. As a student, Shabrina advised all students to be brave to try Learn new things from the experience of participating in competitions to prepare themselves well for a promising digital future. His win is a testament to the quality of education and expertise of Padjadjaran University students in digital communication and social media strategy.
