MEDIA COMMUNICATION COUNSELING ABOUT POLITICAL LITERACY FOR YOUTH GENERATIONS IN THE CONVERENCE ERA

Political developments for the younger generation sometimes become something that is not interesting to follow. This is due to the connotation of political activity which is always negative. Talking about politics in the millennial generation, the most striking momentum is during the election for the President, Legislative Members, and Regional Heads, where the millennial generation is a strategic target to gain people’s votes. Even though the position and role of the millennial generation in local and national politics is still small. Based on data from Trans Media Sosial, the most striking characteristic of the millennial generation is that they are very good at gadgets, information technology and are active on social media Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Line, WhatsApp and Tiktok. The habit of the millennial generation who frequently access social media is carried out with the aim of finding information on entertainment, culinary, religion, politics, sports and contemporary lifestyles. The results of community service activities show that the millennial generation can be educated about political knowledge by using an extension communication approach based on convergence media, including through political webinars.
