Public Relations in government institutions plays an important role in the management of public communications. The challenges faced in managing public communications today are the development of communication technology and the rapid flow of information in society. Central and regional government institutions are required to optimize various forms of communication technology advances in the management of public communications so that the public’s need for information regarding government policies and programs can be properly conveyed so that in the end they can obtain positive support from the community. This research was conducted to find out the management of public communication in government institutions by optimizing communication technology in accordance with the standards written in Presidential Instruction No. 9 of 2015 concerning the management of public communications. This study uses a mix method by combining quantitative and qualitative data. The use of the mixed method in this study is expected to be able to meet the data requirements holistically in order to obtain an overview of public communication management in Ministries, Institutions and Regional Governments. The results of this study are that the majority of respondents consisting of public relations staff of the Ministries, Institutions and Provincial Communications and Information Services have managed public communications by optimizing communication technology in the form of disseminating single narratives and government priority programs through online media and social media as well as conducting media monitoring and auditing. communication as a form of controlling and evaluation. In addition, coordination between government agencies has been carried out in the management of public communications. The recommendations given by the researchers are increasing the quality and quantity of human resources, communication infrastructure, carrying out strategic planning that prioritizes interpersonal communication in the management of public communications and the need for institutional strengthening in Institutions, Ministries, and the Office of Communication and Informatics.
