In facing an increasingly competitive world of work, the Independent Student Career Guidance Program (MBKM) exists as a golden opportunity for students to gain valuable internship experience outside of lectures. One of the students who took advantage of this opportunity was Khaira Alfiyya, a Public Relations Study Program student at the Faculty of Communication Sciences (Fikom) at Padjadjaran University (Unpad). Khaira Alfiyya was successfully accepted as an MBKM apprentice at ParagonCorp as an Employer Branding.
Before starting her internship journey, Khaira Alfiyya has prepared the necessary documents, such as a CV (additional portfolio), SPTJM, and Letters of Recommendation. In addition, he actively seeks information about positions and companies that match his interests and field of study. Khaira Alfiyya conducted research through the company’s website and social media, especially Instagram, to find out more about the company’s culture, upheld values, and communication projects carried out by the company. He even searches previous interns on LinkedIn for additional information and valuable advice.
After going through a series of selection stages, Khaira Alfiyya was very happy when she was accepted at one of her dream companies and the position she wanted. Getting a good mentor and meeting fun new friends makes him even happier. ParagonCorp also provides a comprehensive internship program, including in-class training to develop soft skills and hard skills. Khaira Alfiyya is also actively involved in major corporate projects, including responsibility for managing Paragon’s social media in Malaysia and overseeing Novo Club members throughout Indonesia in organizing events and others.

Her internship experience at ParagonCorp provided many valuable lessons. One of the most significant is the understanding of the importance of developing programs that strengthen the company’s image by maximizing the role of employees. Through her work in the field of Employer Branding, Khaira Alfiyya learned how to create effective strategies to build the company’s brand and provide positive experiences for employees.
In her interview, she said, “My hope is that MBKM can continue to be a forum that can help students find opportunities outside of lectures. What’s more, with competition in the world of work that is always increasing, especially if someone wants to seek experience outside their major, this MBKM program can really help.”
