The population census is a national activity that is held once every ten years, this activity aims to obtain population data for every person in the territory of Indonesia, including the Orang Rimba community in the interior of the forests of Jambi Province. These community groups tend to be exclusive and only interact with their own group. This study aims to find out what factors impede communication between population census officers and the people of the Anak Dalam tribe. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Collecting data using purposive sampling technique. The results showed that there were socio-anthropological, semantic and ecological communication barriers caused by differences in language, customs and culture between the Anak Dalam Tribe and census officers, in addition to the limited education of the Orang Rimba community which led to a lack of understanding of the importance of a population census , as well as the geographic conditions of the Anak Dalam tribe living in the interior of the forest which makes it difficult for census officials to communicate with them. Census officers in carrying out their activities must ask for permission and assistance from the Tumenggung of the Anak Dalam Tribe group so that the census activities run smoothly.
